                                           ERGONOMICS

Today, we are going to discuss quite different & very interesting topic i.e Ergonomics as name explain Ergo - work , nomoi - rule / discipline .

"Ergonomics deals with the human ability ,limitations and to improve interaction with  workplace or product".  


Giving  example for better understanding :- 

A worker has a job to take one part from particular section ,other part form another section  and finally assemble them and put in the assembly line . One time it can be easily done but to perform it thousands time in a day,then it will definitely create problems i.e occupational injuries etc.


To overcome the above problems, ergonomics come into a existence.
 Several advantages are:- 
  •     To improve productivity of  employer and production rate .
  •    To reduced the probability of  health issues .
  •    To create safe environment for employees. 
National institute of  occupational  safety and  health  publishes a guideline time to time on basis of various research paper . NIOSH introduced the concept of  MSD level table which can categorize risk of work.               


MSD table shown below:-

          SCORE                LEVEL OF MSD RISK
             1-2                      Negligible risk, no action required..
             3-4                      Low risk, change may be needed.
             5-6                      Medium risk,further investigation ,change soon.
             6+                       Very high risk,implement change now.
MSD :-Msculoskelten disorder


An injury or illness that affects the nerves , tendons , muscles and supporting structure of the body, these are known as MSD and often occur at the workplace .




NOW question arises in mind how ergonomics improved the interaction product and workplace? ......................................I will be brief in intro about the processes to be done in ergonomics in next articles .
